Sauna FAQs
-
Typical operating temperatures range from 70–95°C.
Some people prefer lower temperatures with more steam, others prefer drier, hotter sessions. Both are correct. Sauna use is personal, and the space is designed to work across this range safely.
-
With correct use and basic maintenance, the structure is designed to last for a lifetime.
The materials are chosen for longevity in outdoor environments rather than short-term appearance.
-
In many cases, outdoor saunas fall under permitted development, but this depends on location, size, and local authority rules.
We always recommend checking with your local planning office before installation, particularly in conservation areas, national parks, or listed properties.
-
Saunas require a flat, level base capable of supporting the full weight of the structure.
This is typically a concrete pad, ground screws, or another engineered foundation system. The exact solution depends on ground conditions and site access.
We can advise on suitable options for your site.

All of our saunas take approximately one hour to get up to temperature.

After each session:
Switch off the heater
Leave the ventilation open
Close the door
Allow residual heat to dry the interior
Wipe benches and floors if there is visible moisture. Do not leave wet towels or clothing inside.
This simple routine prevents condensation and keeps the sauna fresh.
-
Clean using warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
Wipe benches, backrests, walls, floors, and door handles with a soft cloth or sponge. Clean glass separately and dry with a cloth or squeegee.
There is no need to rinse. The sauna will dry naturally through heat and ventilation.
Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, or scented products.

Yes. This is normal.
You should expect:
Colour change
Minor seasonal movement
External patina
These changes do not affect performance or lifespan and are part of working with natural materials.

Stones should be checked roughly once per year or after around 300 hours of use.
They may need restacking periodically and full replacement every 1–3 years depending on usage.
Cracked, crumbling, or lightweight stones should be replaced.
