Mara 4

Our three person sauna. Wood fired or electric. Made for gardens, coastal plots and small ground.

Residential / commercial

MARA 4 | Four person sauna cabin | From £37,000 exc. VAT

01 | THE ORDINARY USE

FOUR SITTING, OR TWO FULL LENGTH

Two benches, one above the other, each 1800 millimetres long. Four people sit. Two people lie down, one to a tier.

1800 millimetres is five foot eleven. Most adults lie flat on it. If you are over six foot you will lie with your knees bent.

A large panoramic window runs the wall opposite the benches and frames the view.

02 | IS THIS THE RIGHT ONE

THE MARA, AND WHO SHOULD BUY SOMETHING ELSE

We would rather you bought the right model than the expensive one - not all of our sauna models will be right for you.

THE MARA MAY BE FOR YOU IF…

You want to lie down. The Ardna's bench is 1350 mm and is for sitting only. The Mara's is 1800 mm.

You want extra space for family and friends

SOMETHING ELSE MAY BE MORE SUITED IF…

It is usually one or two of you. You would be heating a four-person room for one person most times you use it, and that is the fastest route to an unused sauna. The ARDNA 3 is £3,000 less and smaller to heat.

The site takes serious wind. The Mara's roof oversails on all four sides, and an overhang that size catches wind rather than shrugging it off. On an exposed coastal or upland plot you want a low profile and a tight silhouette instead.

04 | THE STANDARD

THE DETAILS THAT MAKE A DOON SAUNA

01

NOTHING THAT OFF-GASSES

Inside the sauna envelope we use no glues, resins, silicones or synthetic sealants. Insulation is sheep's wool without polymer binders, so the wall handles moisture rather than being sealed against it.

02

OPENINGS THAT STAY TRUE

Doors and windows are handmade from Accoya, one of the few timbers that performs reliably through repeated heat cycles. Accoya carries a fifty-year warranty on the timber. Frames stay true. Seals remain tight.

03

SURFACES THAT TAKE THE HEAT

Interiors are lined in thermo-treated aspen: low resin, stable, calm to touch at full heat. Floors are porcelain tile with stainless drainage. Fixings are marine stainless.

04

VENTILATION AS ONE SYSTEM

Fresh air enters low, passes the heat source, and leaves cleanly. Bench heights are set to put you in the band where temperature is consistent and circulation is balanced.

05

LIGHT YOU DON'T LOOK AT

Downlighting is concealed beneath the benches and uplighting behind the backrests. No overhead fitting, no glare, nothing to adjust

06

DESIGNED IN SCOTLAND, BUILT IN EUROPE

We develop the form, proportions and performance details in Scotland. Manufacture is with long-established specialist timber partners in Europe, chosen for expert craftsmanship, consistency and material control.

05 | YOUR SIDE OF THE BUILD

four THINGS ARE YOURS TO ARRANGE

The base

WE DO NOT OFFER GROUNDWORKS

We provide foundation and setting-out drawings covering footprint, levels, load points and tolerances, and your groundworker builds to them. Most people use a compacted stone base with concrete pads, ground screws or a poured concrete base. It must be complete, cured and level at least one week before installation.

AN ELECTRICIAN

SUPPLY AND ISOLATION ARE SEPARATE

The sauna arrives fully pre-wired internally. A qualified electrician provides the supply and, where regulations require it, a local isolation switch. Final connection happens once the structure is positioned.

ACCESS

IT ARRIVES FINISHED, ON A LORRY

These are delivered as complete prefabricated structures and typically placed by HIAB. We assess the route in advance. Some sites need a crane. The Ardna is the smallest lift in the range, which is often what makes a difficult plot possible.

Outdoor saunas often fall under permitted development. Often is not always. Size, proximity to boundaries, listed status, conservation areas and commercial use all change the answer, and we will not tell you that consent is unnecessary. At 2600 mm the Ardna is the lowest structure we build, which helps. Check with your local authority before you commit to a date.

06 | ORDER TO FIRST SESSION

WHAT HAPPENS, AND WHEN

01

SITE CHECK

A short call about access, base and power. We look at these before anything else, because a sauna sold into a site that cannot take it is a bad sale for both of us.

02

SPECIFICATION AND SLOT

Finish, stove type and details are confirmed within the core design. Price and build slot are fixed.

03

FABRICATION

Typically eighteen weeks from the start of fabrication. Your base is built during this period, to our drawings.

04

DELIVERY AND HANDOVER

The date is confirmed three weeks ahead. We place the structure, your electrician makes the final connection, and we hand over with guidance on use and care.

WARRANTY

Five years structural warranty. Two years on fixed components: glazing, doors and benches. Stove comes under manufacturers warranty.
