COVE 6
Six people inside, a covered porch with the log store, under a pitched roof.
Residential / commercial
COVE 6 | Six person sauna cabin with porch | From £46,000 exc. VAT01 | THE ORDINARY USE
Drawn from the bothies of scotland’s wild west coast
The Cove has a covered porch. The logs live there, dry, in a store built into it. So do your boots.
It is the step between inside and out, and that step is a good part of a sauna evening - going for wood, cooling off, standing about between rounds. On the west coast it is usually raining while you do it.
02 | ACROSS THE RANGE
Every site wants a different building
The Cove is drawn for weather and for long sessions. Here is what that suits, and which of the others is the answer when your site asks a different question.

THE MODEL FOR IT
Somewhere dry to keep YOUR TOWEL AND SHOES
Rain and wet snow are the site's main problem
Four of you, or you want the option to lie down
A tight plot, or a boundary that rules out height
Open coast, where weather is the first consideration

A LARGER SAUNA FOR FRIENDS OR GUESTS
Why the roof is that steep
Buildings on that coast converge on one shape: steep pitch, small plan. The reason is weather rather than taste. Rain runs off a pitch instead of sitting on it, snow slides, and a small plan gives the wind less to work with. The bothy is the version of that shape most people picture.
The Cove takes that shape and resolves it - 3500 millimetres to the ridge, and a vertical rain screen so the wall drains and dries after weather instead of holding it.
The porch is ours, not the bothy's. It is the part we added, and it is the part worth choosing a Cove for.

THE DETAILS THAT MAKE A DOON SAUNA
01
NOTHING THAT OFF-GASSES
Inside the sauna envelope we use no glues, resins, silicones or synthetic sealants. Insulation is sheep's wool without polymer binders, so the wall handles moisture rather than being sealed against it.
02
OPENINGS THAT STAY TRUE
Doors and windows are handmade from Accoya, one of the few timbers that performs reliably through repeated heat cycles. Accoya carries a fifty-year warranty on the timber. Frames stay true. Seals remain tight.
03
SURFACES THAT TAKE THE HEAT
Interiors are lined in thermo-treated aspen: low resin, stable, calm to touch at full heat. Floors are porcelain tile with stainless drainage. Fixings are marine stainless.
04
VENTILATION AS ONE SYSTEM
Fresh air enters low, passes the heat source, and leaves cleanly. Bench heights are set to put you in the band where temperature is consistent and circulation is balanced.
05
LIGHT YOU DON'T LOOK AT
Downlighting is concealed beneath the benches and uplighting behind the backrests. No overhead fitting, no glare, nothing to adjust
06
